National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Coordinating Centre (NEWRMC) - Sierra Leone
On Thursday 19th January, 2023, the ECOWAS Representative to Sierra Leone Ambassador Harouna Moussa paid a visit to the Centre. He was accompanied by the Deputy Head of the ECOWAS National Office in the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Mr Saffa Kanneh.
Upon arrival, a well-coordinated meeting was held at the NEWRMC’s Situation Room where the Director of Centre Mrs Francess Nyuma welcomed the Team to the Centre, and assured them of the Centre’s hospitality and commitment to effective collaboration and cooperation.
A detailed presentation (by the Lead Analyst, Lt. Col. Musa F. Kanneh) of the Centre’s establishment, mandates, core values, operations, funding, challenges and recommendations was done. This was followed by lengthy discussions, questions and answers.
The ECOWAS Representative thanked the Director and her Team for the excellent work the Centre is doing to enhance human security and maintain peace in Sierra Leone, and pledged his commitment of support to the Centre.
