Joint Technical Session Between Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (CPNC) and National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Centre (NEWRMC) otherwise known as National Centre for the Coordination of Response Mechanism ( NCCRM ) to Strengthen Collaboration on peace and early warning
On 18th November 2025, the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) and the National Early warning and Response Mechanism Coordinating Centre (NEWRMC held joint technical session coordinated by the GIZ-Nigeria’s ECOWAS Peace, Security, and Governance (EPSG) Project Team. The meeting aimed at improving coordination, strengthening institutional collaboration and effectively support national priorities in strengthening Sierra Leone’s peace infrastructure and early warning mechanisms.
The session opened with remarks from the leadership of NEWRMC/NCCRM, ICPNC, and the EPSG Project Team Lead, followed by series of presentations on mission objectives, mandates, early warning systems, conflict response mechanism, linkages, bottlenecks in the early warning-to-response chain, practical collaboration opportunities, and to name but a few.
The session also identified priority support areas for EPSG (2026–2027), including joint capacity building, technical support for data integration, community dialogue facilitation, and strategic communication.
The session concluded with a roadmap outlining next steps, responsibilities, and focal persons for follow-up actions in a bid to strengthen the linkages and enhance effective collaboration and delivery.
