STRENGTHENING NATIONAL STABILITY THROUGH STRATEGIC COLLABORATION

The collaboration between the Office of National Security (ONS) and the National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Centre-Sierra Leone (NEWRMC-SL) continues to play a vital role in safeguarding peace and stability in Sierra Leone. Through close collaboration, information sharing, and joint analysis, both institutions ensure that existential and emerging threats identified early and addressed proactively.

Speaking on the existing partnership, the National Security Coordinator (NSCoord) Mr. Abdulai Caulker noted:

“Our collaboration with the National Early Warning Centre strengthens national security by ensuring that timely, accurate information informs decision-making. Early warning allows us to prevent crises rather than merely respond to them.”

In the same vein, the Executive Director of the National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Centre Mrs. Francess A.M Nyuma stated:

“Working with the Office of National Security enables us to translate early warning signals into coordinated national responses that protect lives, preserve peace, mitigate human security threats and enhance democratic governance.”

Through this collaboration, Sierra Leone continues to reinforce its commitment to early detection of human threats, supports evidence-based security decisions, prevents conflict, and strengthens national resilience. By working together, both institutions help protect peace, promote stability, and support sustainable development for the people of Sierra Leone.
